Shannon Coiled Springs Ltd makes precision wire components for medical device, aerospace and specialist industrial customers. Coiled, ground, formed and finished in Limerick, Ireland under one quality management system, certified by NQA and UKAS-accredited.

01Who we are

Our medtech area
is a lab.

Most of what we make is smaller than the tolerance most manufacturers work to. Coils wound from wire at 0.025 mm, around eighty times finer than a pencil lead, end up inside catheters and guidewires, where a component that is merely close enough is a component that fails in a patient.

That reality shapes everything else. It's why the drawing gets read before it gets priced, why inspection is automated rather than visual only, and why we'd rather lose a quote than take on a spec we can't hold. It's also why customers tend to consolidate work with us over time: once the coil is here, the grind, the weld and the packaging are easier here too.

We're a member of the Institute of Spring Technology. One quality management system, certified by NQA and UKAS-accredited, compliant to all three standards. ISO 9001 for Industrial applications, AS9100D for Aerospace and ISO 13485 for Medical applications.

How we work.

We quote drawings, not part numbers

A drawing gets read by someone who has wound, ground or formed the thing it describes. If a feature won't hold, that comes back with the quote, not after the tooling is cut.

Evidence over assurance

At these diameters, 'inspected' has to mean something specific. Components are verified on equipment that reports against tolerance, with traceability from wire certificate to despatch.

The same people, run to run

The people running these machines have spent their working lives on precision wire, which is why a repeat order behaves like the first one.
