Common Questions
What buyers ask us most often about tolerances, materials, certification and getting a part quoted. Every answer here is the same one you will find on the capability page it comes from.
Capability
Capability
From 0.025 mm to 4.0 mm. Coil outside diameters run from 0.10 mm to 90 mm, inside diameters from 0.05 mm, pitch from 0.20 mm to 15 mm, and lengths up to 2 metres.
On coiling we hold wire diameter to ±0.002 mm, pitch to ±0.005 mm, inside diameter to ±0.005 mm and outside diameter to ±0.010 mm.
Diameters are held to microns, ground to your drawing. We deliberately do not publish a single tolerance ceiling for grinding, because the right answer depends on the material, the profile and the length. Send the drawing and we will tell you what we can hold on that part.
Yes. Coiling, centreless grinding, wire forming and value-add finishing all run under one roof in Limerick, so a component that needs several operations moves through one routing with one lot number rather than being shipped between suppliers.
Yes. Rapid prototyping is part of what we offer, and several of our case studies began as a prototype that went on to a production programme.
Materials & finishing
Materials & finishing
Stainless steel including the vacuum-melted grades 302V/304V and 316LVM, plus 904L; Nitinol; the cobalt-chromium superalloys MP35N® and Phynox® / Elgiloy®; the nickel-base superalloys Inconel® and Alloy C276; titanium, tungsten, platinum, platinum-iridium, palladium and other precious alloys.
Yes: PTFE, Parylene and gold. Coating sits alongside our other finishing operations: cleaning, passivation, laser welding, marking and packaging.
Quality & certification
Quality & certification
Yes. We run one quality management system, certified by NQA and UKAS-accredited, compliant to all three standards: ISO 9001 for industrial applications, AS9100D for aerospace and ISO 13485 for medical. The certificates are downloadable on our Quality page.
Yes. We make coiled, ground and formed wire components for catheters, guidewires and minimally invasive devices, and our ISO 13485 certification covers medical device wire.
Yes. We carry out in-process and final dimensional inspection with full lot traceability from wire to despatch, and supply the documentation regulated programmes depend on.
Working with us
Working with us
A drawing or a sketch is enough to start. If you do not have a drawing yet, describe the part and the application and an engineer will come back to you with what we would need to know.
We manufacture in Limerick, Ireland, and have done for over 45 years. We supply customers across Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe and the United States.
Not the question you had?
Send a drawing, a sketch, or just a description of the part. An engineer will come back to you with an honest read on whether it is something we can hold.
