Cookie Policy
Exactly what this website stores in your browser, why, and for how long. No social media pixels, and nothing sold to anyone. Google Analytics and Google Ads both run, both are optional, and both are listed in full below.

Compiled by auditing what this site actually stores, then verifying it in a live browser session.
The short version
This site carries no social media pixel and sells nothing to anyone. It does use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful, and Google Ads to see which of our adverts lead to a real enquiry. Both are off until you allow them in the cookie banner, and both are listed in full below with what they store and for how long.
Alongside those, a handful of first-party items make the site work and remember choices you have made yourself — your cookie answer, your display preferences. All of it is listed below, in full.
What is stored, and why
“Cookies” is the common term, but browsers offer several storage mechanisms and this site uses more web storage than actual cookies. Both are covered here, because from your point of view the distinction does not matter much.
wordpress_test_cookie
Cookie · strictly necessary
Set by WordPress to check whether your browser accepts cookies at all. Carries no information about you.
Lifetime · Session — deleted when you close the browser
_ga / _ga_<id>
Cookie · analytics (Google)
Google Analytics. Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted and page journeys understood. Google is a third party and receives this data. This particular cookie is not used for advertising; the Google Ads cookies listed below are, and they are a separate choice in the banner.
Lifetime · Up to 2 years
_gcl_au / _gcl_aw
Cookie · advertising (Google)
Set by Google Ads, and only if you allow Advertising in the cookie banner. It records that you arrived from one of our ads, so that if you go on to send us an enquiry or phone us we can tell which ad led to it. While it is set, the phone number on this site may be a Google forwarding number, which rings SCS as normal. It is how we judge whether advertising is worth continuing. No profile of you is built here and nothing is sold to anyone.
Lifetime · Up to 90 days
scs-attr-v1
Local storage · advertising
Our own record of the same thing: the campaign you arrived from and the page you landed on, kept so it can travel with an enquiry you choose to send us. First-party, never read by anyone else, and cleared after 90 days.
Lifetime · 90 days
g_state
Cookie · functional (Google)
Set by Google's sign-in library, which loads as part of the same Google integration. It records that a sign-in prompt was dismissed so it is not shown again immediately.
Lifetime · Up to 6 months
_pk_id / _pk_ses
Cookie · analytics
Set by the hosting platform's own analytics to count visits and pages viewed. First-party, not shared with an advertising network, and not used to build a profile of you. The pair distinguishes a returning browser from a new one and marks the current visit.
Lifetime · _pk_id up to 13 months; _pk_ses 30 minutes
scs-consent-v2
Local storage · strictly necessary
Records the choice you made in the cookie banner, so we do not ask again on every page. Storing your decision is what lets us honour it.
Lifetime · Until you clear your browser storage
scs:intro-seen
Session storage · functional
Notes that you have already seen the opening animation, so it does not replay on every page you visit.
Lifetime · Session — deleted when you close the tab
scs-a11y-v1
Local storage · functional
Remembers display preferences you set yourself in the accessibility panel, such as larger text, reduced motion or a larger cursor. Only written if you change a setting.
Lifetime · Until you clear your browser storage
What the cookie banner controls
If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, the site counts a small number of anonymous events, for example how many people opened the coil configurator. The count is a daily total held on SCS’s own server. It is not tied to you, it does not identify you, it is not shared, and no third party sees it.
If you decline, that counter does not run. Declining costs you nothing: every part of the site works identically either way.
Google Analytics is not currently covered by that switch — it loads whichever answer you give. We would rather say so than let the banner imply otherwise. If you do not want it to run, the browser controls described in the next section will stop it, and any question about what has been collected can go to sales@scspring.ie.
Third parties, stated plainly
Outside services are contacted, and only for the reasons given:
- Adobe Fonts (use.typekit.net, p.typekit.net), to deliver the brand typefaces, on every page. The remaining typefaces are served from this site itself.
- OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org), which supplies the map tiles on the contact and about pages. No other page requests them, and they set no cookie.
- Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com, google-analytics.com), which measures which pages are read and how people move through the site. This one does set cookies and Google receives the data, which is why it is listed in the table above rather than only here.
The font and map services set no cookies here and are not used for analytics or advertising. Google Analytics does both set cookies and receive data about your visit — stated plainly rather than buried. And requesting any file from any of these servers necessarily reveals your IP address to it, which we would rather say than let you discover.
Files you choose to download, such as our certificates, and links you follow to other sites, are governed by those sites’ own policies rather than this one.
Changing your mind
You can reopen the cookie settings at any time from the link in the site footer and change your analytics choice. It takes effect immediately.
You can also clear or block storage in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary items will mean the site asks for your cookie choice on every page, because the record of your last answer is itself one of the things being blocked.
